Farm Owners
Darrell retired from the U.S. Army in 1989, and retired from U.S. Air Force civil service in 2006. He worked along with Maleah, as an Information Technology Project Manager for the National Air & Space Intelligence Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. He also retired as a German Language Adjunct Professor at Wright-State University in 2006. He has taught at the middle school & high school level and taught German for the Greene County Adult Education Center for many years. Retirement has enabled him to devote more time with our kennel operation. He grew up on a farm in rural Indiana during the 1950s, where his love of animals first began. He loves Chows, sports and landscaping, and is responsible for all the many landscaping projects completed on our farm.
Maleah also retired from U.S. Air Force civil service in 2014. She worked as an Information Technology Project Manager for the National Air & Space Intelligence Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. Besides her love for Chow Chows, she loves horses. She also grew up on a farm in rural Indiana, where she got her first horse. She now has a beautiful registered Morgan mare and a drafty Haflinger mare. Maleah maintains a large garden, raised beds and a greenhouse. She bakes, cans, freezes and performs many activities that are both loved and envied by all. She maintains bee hives, fruit trees, berry bushes, grape vines, strawberries, rhubarb and flowers. She sews, crochets, cross-stitches and embroiders. She also is an avid reader and is involved with our church.
Having lived for so many years in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, located in the German Alps, both Darrell & Maleah are attracted to the unique lifestyle, traditions and culture of those living in these rural picturesque villages and country side. Back here in Ohio, that has transitioned to their love and appreciation for the large Amish/Mennonite communities of Holmes County, Ohio. They have become very close friends with many Amish families and have adopted many of their ideas to their own mini-farm!
